I'll be looking out for the books you post. Ok Jada I'm sure you get this all the time someone asking you guys for something, I'm not asking for a hand out I'm asking for a "JOB" so I can make my own money and help take care of family . I'm not a actor but any other job will be cool with me.UPLIFTNW@Gmail.com

  2. Living Buddha, Living Christ is a great book that I read some years ago, interesting how similar Christ teachings are to Buddha. Anyhoo,"Dope"? Come on Jada you gotta lot of adult college educated fans out there. How about "great". No one uses that term anyway. Btw, Been a fan of yours since A different world, stay blessed. I believe it's in poor taste to ask for a job on this blog, but hey, these are hard times so I understand Aria's post. Perhaps, people such as yourself and Will can help by continuing to be inspirational, continue on with your already many charities, and help in the creation of more opportunities for us supportive fans.-Maya

    1. This is not to bash and yes it's great you as well as others are college educated educate, but a word does not define you! Yet if you're going to say things such as college educated I'm sure your teacher would tell you "Gotta is not a college educated word"

  3. Thank you for being so universal in your book choices as I will read both of these soon. I will also read up on The Alchemist as your hubby (Mr.Smith) has plugged so much on the Tavis Smiley show. It is my innate desire to continue to seek enlightenment and develop into the spiritual being I am and to recognize we all are on a human journey. Mrs. Smith, thank you for being yourself, if you cannot use terminology that comes straight from your fiber such as "dope" than how can you be authentic. I am college educated and yet not offended. I will stay tuned and be of continued support to you and the many endeavors you have ahead. On an off note, what happened to Wicked Wisdom?? I enjoyed your music and never got a chance to see you live, hopefully you have not disbanded as I will be saddened to have missed that opportunity. Many Blessings!

  4. Hello Jada:
I am in search of contact information for your agent or agency that handles booking events on your behalf. This would be for a speaking engagement for a Women's group in your home state. You can forward the information to joetaesean@gmail.com. Thank you.

  5. The previous posts are funny. She's from a whole different generation people, and so am I, don't make us feel old! Haha

Anyway, the second one looks very interesting to me. I will see if my local library has it so I can check it out.

Very cool that you are sharing your perspectives with us. It seems so personal. Please keep it going!

  6. Actually, I AM from the same generation as Jada and we must all grow with the times. That's all!! As a poster said,we don't want to feel old or old fashioned!! No need to take this so seriously, I was simply stating an opinion which Jada welcomes to this great site. Of course, for your info, it's not a big deal and therefore, no need for anyone to be offended, geez. God bless.

  10. Dear Jada,

What a coincidence! I downloaded A Return to Love via Audible.com a few weeks ago, and I listened to a few chapters last weekend. Do you remember the part about her being stood up by a date who was watching the final celebration for the '84 Olympics? (I learned a lot from her truth-telling. It was genuine and positive.) I also loved the section where she reminds us about our own lights. Keep shining!

    All the best,
    Lanita

By the way, on the last episode of HawthoRNe (with Malcolm-Jamal Warner)... while Nurse Hawthorne was expressing concern about Fred's dropping blood pressure, the camera flashes to the blood pressure machine that he is attached to and it reads like a normal person's. Also... why did the show switch the babies?

  11. I just wanted to add one more comment to this particular blog about the Redbook (July 2009) interview in which you discuss Hawthorne and share some private home photos. I thought they were adorable and also, liked your comment regarding Leonardo di Vinci in relation to those photos. Gave me something to think about!!You are one of the most intelligent actresses which is why you are a refreshing presence in Hollywierd!! Keep it up and keep inspiring others including myself to elevate themselves.

  12. I will check out the book by marian Williamson. But the other book is out for me. I am currently in nursing school and have no time to read any books outside of school. I take time to read my spirital books. I will get this book and let you know what I think. I try to get online once a week or so, so it may be a little bit before I get back. Thanks so much. Dimples

Great books! I actually read Living Buddha Living Christ. Its awesome. I probably need to go back and check it out again. I find that you get something different from the books you read every time you pick them up. I guess it just depends on where you are in that moment when you reach that page. 20. Hey there. I'm watching your show for the first time tonight. It has potential. I think there are problems with the camera angles/editing. I'd like to see your facial expressions more. If anyone can express emotion - you can - but the camera keeps cutting away from you when you're talking. Annoying. I hope the show does well though. The nurse locked in the basement with the patient seems like she'll be good. Give her more screen time. I realize your facebook page and blog are both promos for your show but just incase you read these comments...I want to ask you to listen to some music. If you have time - check out Mad Son with the Unknown Prophets. I especially like his Peace Amongst the Madness album. He writes positive hip hop with a lot of heart and soul. If Oprah can help Obama then why not ask the Smith's to put in a word for Mad Son and the Unknown Prophets. Peace! Good Luck with the show!!!

  21. You inspire me, Jada! I am looking forward to reading those books. Right now I am in graduate school, working on my PhD in research, stats and evaluation. It's really a fancy name for educational research. :o) Although I am passionate about my research, it is sometimes such a gift to read a book that is not "required." Please continue to post blogs. They are really uplifting.

    Sincerely,
    Camille

  28. When it comes to Wicked Wisdom, I believe Jada has already stated in many interviews that she is focused on her children's career. Can't wait to see Karate Kid! I also hope that Jada will share some of her experiences in China during or after she returns to the U.S. with us on this site!

  30. Hi Jada, I love the book recommendations. I'll make sure to pick those two up, and will be on the lookout for more of your recommendations. In the meantime, one of my favorite books is Elizabeth Gilbert's "Eat, Love, Pray" (true story). I cannot even begin to express what Elizabeth's ephiphanies, thoughts, & struggles make me feel. I feel empowered, renewed, motivated, grateful. Check out some excerpts I've posted on my blog entry (I know you'll like them): http://jamlen.blogspot.com/2008/02/eat-pray-love.html

  32. Another enlightening, and I feel a "must" read, is The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. It's a meditative guide to daily living. Enjoy!

  33. Madame Jada, I am very pleased to hear that you have enough patience to consume two novels at once, I believe that it is truly a blessing for anyone who has that ability. I find myself making so many notes within the margins of a book of interest that in the end I wind up writing a book of notes. For other purposes, I've just finished watching "The Secret Life of Bees" and was wondering if you would be interested in reading a short biographical novel I've written & copyrighted, entitled Lilac Journey: biography of a ganster girl. Naturally, I'm quite biased and do think that it has Oscar potential. However, with all due respect, I'd certainly like to hear what you think. bigbiggityben@comcast.net

  34. You have fantastic taste. I have two books I'd now like to refer you to, though I'm sure you've read them or have plans to already:

Richard Greene - 'The 48 Laws Of Power'
    &
    Rhonda Byrne - 'The Secret'
    ---------------

Pardon me, but I'd also like to recommend a short HILARIOUS YouTube short video that I made mocking Lil' Wayne. And I KNOW You bump Wayne. Hit me up, tell me what you think. You've got my support until the END!

  36. I'm half black and half white, grew up in south Mississippi. Have a hillarious, stero-type busting, sitcom idea based on my childhood. No idea how else to contact you, I'm just a mom, not a wheeler dealer,if you are interested in hearing more please contact me @ delylahrose@yahoo.com. I chose you because based on the little that I know about you, you don't fit into a box, nor do I. Maybe you would get where I'm coming from. BTW, I saw you were reading Return to Love, that book profoundly changed the way I saw the world, myself, and God. Peace.

PS - you should probably hurry before the bidding war starts between Oprah and Tyler Perry, lol
